Vademecum of the perfect traveller 2017

During the holidays periods, the road access to the Genève Aéroport can get crowded, just like the car parks. The Management of the Genève Aéroport invites passengers arriving by car to leave for the airport with a safety margin.

During the holidays, certain time frames are very busy and some congestion may occur at the registration counters, when passing through the airport security or at the customs check (exit from the Schengen area):passengers should therefore always arrive at the airport at least two hours before their flight.

ACCESS

As usual, the Management of Genève Aéroport recommends passengers to use the public transportation systemto arrive at the airport (train, shuttle, or the bus lines 5, 10, 23, 28, 57, Y). Passengers coming from the nearby French regions can use the regular bus lines from Annecy, Chambéry, Grenoble and Lyon. The airport is connected to the Swiss and European rail networks, and trains are departing from the CFF Genève Cornavin train station towards Annecy, Aix-les-Bains, Bourg-en-Bresse, Chambéry, Dijon, Grenoble, Lyon, Valencia, etc. To find more about it, visit our website at www.gva.ch/transports.The quick drop-off of passengers is at the departures level (surface-based upper platform). Drivers bringing passengers to the airport are invited to follow the “Kiss & Fly” signs. For other car parks (short term and unlimited parking), signs have been placed to indicate the routes.

Please note that if you must come by car it is possible to easily reserve a parking spot online through the ResaPark service at www.gva.ch/eservices.

Passengers leaving their vehicle in Geneva can check the occupancy level of the car parks on the homepage of our website at www.gva.ch or via the free GVApp app. This app is now compatible with the Apple Watch.

A Valet Parking service is also available www.gva.ch/valet-parking. Transformations take place in the airport. To facilitate access several short videos have been made to better guide travellers to Genève Aéroport.• I go to the airport from the Railway station.I go to the airport by bus or by foot.I go to the airport by car.

REGISTRATION

Several airlines offer the possibility to check-in the luggage online or at the "Express Check-in” kiosks installed in the terminal, to thereafter drop them off at a dedicated counter. For some flights, it is possible to check in the day before the flight. HAND LUGGAGE

In order to avoid wasting time during the security checks, please note that hand baggage must not contain any dangerous or sharp objects. Liquids, sprays and other gels must be in containers of maximum 100 ml and must all be placed in a one-litre transparent plastic bag.

CO2 COMPENSATION

Genève Aéroport offers its passengers the possibility to compensate the carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) generated by their flight.
