The Olympic flame will leave this 2nd of May 2016 from Genève Aéroport to Brasilia

Here it will start its journey throughout Brazil, carried by 12,000 athletes until 5 August, when it will make a triumphal entry into the Maracanã Stadium for the opening ceremony of the XXXI Olympiad.

The Olympic flame was lit on 21 April in Olympia, during a ceremony. It travelled the Greece: from Eleonas camp, it spent the night at the Museum of the Acropolis, to be handed over to the Brazilian delegation in the Marble Stadium of Athens, scene of the first modern Olympics in 1896.
