Robert Deillon has handed the keys of Genève Aéroport to André Schneider
In its meeting of 6 April 2016, the State Council endorsed the appointment of Dr. André Schneider to the position of CEO of Genève Aéroport. Currently Vice President of Resources and Infrastructure of the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne (EPFL), his primary responsibility is to secure infrastructures and services to meet the needs of this international research institution in the field of operations, infrastructure, human resources and finance. As such, he managed the end of the construction of the North District with the Congress centre SwissTech Convention Center, 500 student housing, a hotel and a shopping mall.
At the same time, André Schneider manages today André Schneider Global Advisory S.A., a Geneva-based consulting firm. The purpose of this entity is to assist organisations seeking to extend their reach and to position themselves within the context of sustainable development at the global level.
From 1998 to 2011, the future CEO of Genève Aéroport worked for the World Economic Forum as Chief Technology Officer, CTO (from 1998 to 2000), Director Resources and Knowledge Management (from 2000 to 2003), and then as Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer.
For the purpose of a doctorate (Ph. D.) in computer science, André Schneider had been previously a researcher at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN), from 1990 to 1992, before joining IBM Switzerland, where it was first a consultant (IT Consultant). Notably, he participated in the co-development of an IT architecture design method used by IBM throughout Europe.
From 1991 to 1993, he held the position of manager and was responsible for the establishment of an IT consulting firm, in charge of preparing the changeover to the year 2000.
From 1979 to 1982, André Schneider studied orchestral music at the Richard Strauss Conservatorium of Munich, Germany. He played the tuba in prestigious orchestras such as the Berliner Philharmoniker and Lucerne International Festival Orchestra.
Member of various Boards of Directors, he is considered sensitive to environmental and equal pay issues. Of international stature, André Schneider is a man of many challenges. Having a great sense of economic, diplomatic, development, management issues, he is called to take over the reins of Genève Aéroport at a time when this institution faces major challenges.
André Schneider was born on 19 November 1959. Of Swiss nationality, he is married and father of four children aged 20, 16, 13 and 12. His mother tongue is German and he fluently speaks French and English.
André Schneider will succeed Robert Deillon, appointed CEO in 2006.
